Dials, speedo's in a line

Right, this is a bit random I know but I have always fancied a speedo that displays the speed on a line instead of the tradional radial design. I know its a bit seventies but I like it. Do they have a special name or something?

I saw some at Newark on Sunday but the man looked gruff and the queues bad.

Couldn't you do it with a counter circuit fed from the ignition and a row of LEDs?
Calibrate to suit your needs then, as to length and range.

Digital Dashes

I found in Yahoo or somewhere else a Page discussing electronic digital dashes on production cars, maybe a web search can show it and take ideas from there???
