Sierra V6 Engine into aGTS Chassis?
Im part way through building my GTS Chssis from the plans that i purchased from the site and I have now been offered an old Sierra XR 4x4 2.8 V6 at a
very reasonable price.
The question I have is if anyone has fitted one of these engines into the Chassis as designed by GTS ? and also whether there were any
complications/modifications that I should take into account before I go ahead and grab this v6?
Thanks for any help in advance
Damo

hey, i enquired about fitting a 2.8 v6 xr4x4 engine into a gts, but as it turned out, the gearbox would present a prob as apparently its not a type 9
box. thats what i was told anyway, so for now i have stuck to a 1.8cvh sierra, and going to drop a 2l zetec in when the time comes

The gearboxes were T9s but obviously the 4x4 veriant. You would have to get the standard one off a normal sierra, which will fit directly (as this
engine and gearbox were used in the XR4i)

the v6 type 9 is different for the v6, needs a longer input shaft. capri 2.8i's are the gearbox donors for the v6 motor..
sometimes they come up on ebay...

Hi Damo,
I wouldn't recommend it as there is little that will easily fit, the engine should but then u have to source different uprights, gearbox etc,
even if its free its probably going to cause you more aggro than paying £100 for a real Sierra donor that makes the build easier.
I don't think that sort of engine really suits a light weight two seat sports car myself. It kinda goes away from the 7 priniciples. I
don't understand the need to put v8's in them for example.
Kind regards,
Darren
