Hi Mike, how's the build going?? Mine runs, but still needs fine tuning. Need to borrow a strobe timing light. (BGB hint!!!!).

Assuming you referred to the Xflow dizzie. In fact, I discovered that I have 2. 1st came with the engine, and appears to be a black-topped Ford version. 2nd came from a scrappers, and is a Bosch version, intended for use with their early contactless ignition. So I'd guess that this one is 12v. Dunno about the 1st example - how can you check it?

Build is going slow (as always). Remade the steering over the last week and painted the fuel tank. Got to do the roll bar soon and then i'll have a running 'car' with no bodywork and lots of extra bits to do.

Not sure how to tell with the dizzy, just thought it may be an easy way to not have to worry about the ballast resistor.

It's the coil that is ballasted not the distributor so with the correct points, condenser and coil you should be able to use it for 9v or 12v.

But you need to have a wire with a 2 ohm (i think) resistance going to the coil if you're using a ballasted coil. (i know as i shorted it out by accident a few years ago).
