Following a couple of previous threads my tin-top is back on the road, but I'm still looking for someting better.....
The basic criteria is something totaly rot free / low milage
something nice and simple (so say 10 years old or more)
something I can run to work in everyday but if possibe could also be fun if you wanted it to (think 'warm hatch' etc...)
and say insurance group ~10 or less
the budget is anything up to £3500 - any suggestions / anyone know of any bargans ?

Since I sold my Passat to help fund my build, I've been driving my wife's Daihatsu Sirion.
NO, WAIT! stop laughing!
We paid £2000 for it 4 years ago (it is an 02) it has a Toyota Yaris 1.3 16v engine, but its only 2/3 of the weight of a Yaris. Freely revs to the
red line at 7500, chain drive OHC (no cloth cambelt here) tiny turning circle, and it is like a go - kart! I've had well over the ton out of
it and it does the 0-60 in 9.6 secs. Marvellous, reliable little pocket rocket. I love it!

this is one currently for sale - and identical to mine -

Citreon Xara 2 ltr HDI, 51 Reg, had mine now for best part of five years, not spent a penny on it other than the odd tyre. 50 MPG, cheap (ish)
insurance. While some people slag French cars I can't fault it. My Mrs also has a Citreon, C5, also faultless. HTH Ray

2004 MG ZS 1.8 120 + on eBay (end time 01-Dec-10 15:26:30 GMT)
Better
still.
58 k from new and only six years old. Leather and air con, sporty and they look nice. Thats a dealer price they go for less private.
Have a look and see how much ford or vw you get for that money and the milage there at.
You get a lot of car for the cash.

If you go for a Leon - make sure its not the 2.0 diesel - pile of crap! Go for the 1.9 and pass the 2.0 on the hard shoulder... I had one for almost 3
years... rubbish!

I am about to put my Mk2 Golf GTI 16v up for sale - completely original and unmolested with a brand new engine. Doen just 300 miles since build and
pulls like a train. First owner from new in 1988 until Jan last year and has history as well as electric recaro interior as standard. Only
modifications are an aftermarket backbox and a brand new stereo so i could play music from my i-phone.
It WILL appreciate too and I am looking for around £2750

And.....if you listen very carefully.......
.......it sounds like a Golf!
