Danozeman - 26/10/10 at 08:15 PM

I have a really random sale here.

I have about 10 maybe more Convict Cichlids in my tank i would like to get rid of. Theyr lovely looking fish but if i keep them and they keep growing then therel be too many fish for the size of my tank. There is male and female and range from an inch to 3 inches but I think il keep the biggest pair.

A pictue for reference.

Info here

Most places sell Cichlids as non comunity fish. I have had kept various cichlid with other fish for years and never had a problem. These live with silver dollars, parrot fish and many others at the minute and are fine.

I would like £2 each. They are £8-10 in aquatics shops.

They are in my tank in stowmarket suffolk and obviously collection only.

Nice fish but nasty little sods once they pair off and start breeding. 2 quid each sounds a fair enough price. It's okay a shop putting them up for ten pounds but try asking them how many they sell.
I work in an aquarium (yes I'm a good swimmer) and we once got given 200 one inch convicts, and couldn't get rid of them all at 10 pence each. If you're fair to people and tell them what they are like (a clue is in the name) they are very difficult to sell. That said I've got loads of cichlids and have bred convicts. They're a great and interesting fish just as long as you're careful what you mix them with.
