Cobel 180Amp Tig DC Welder HF unit has packed up, still works scratch start
The Venom Project - 26/10/11 at 03:27 PM

Had the welder from new, its been fine up till the last time I tried using it, it would not HF start.... As I am new to welding I need a unit as easy as possible. I have decided to sell it as I need to buy another one, maybe this is an easy fix, I think its just a relay if im honest, but my knowledge regarding stripping down welders is just a bridge too far. It has lots of settings on it, switches etc, and when working correctly the adjustable amp knob really worked well, not like some of the cheaper Chinese stuff I have used.

Offers around £80 will get a bargain if you can fix it, and if not its still a cheap Tig welder. this comes with the welding torch and all the bits with the torch, I even fitted new bits just to eliminate this as the issue, new TIG switch fitted, works on Mains, but I had it wired up to a 32Amp plug (Not included) This is also a compact unit, handle fitted on top, its very portable, although not with my large argon cylinder (Not Included)

The welder will come as is, no other bits included like the regulator etc:

Collection only please from Huddersfield

U2U me if you need anymore info

Still for sale, if it doesn't sell I might get it into the company to fix it.

Before you out it, take the top off, inside there will be a board with a couple of bendable posts that stick up, maybe 1/2 inch which are used for the Arc.

When you have HF start turned on it will spark between these posts/tabs if something has dropped between them it will behave as described, you can also try adjusting the gap to see if that helps.

You could also try unplugging and plugging back all the boards inside and give it a good hoover out.

Regards Mark
