Sylva Striker - Zetec on Weber 45’s – Mot & Tax till October 2012 - £5750ono
The time has come for me to put my Striker up for sale – with the arrival of the little one, and hopefully a foray into karting, I could use the dosh
better elsewhere.
I bought the car about two years ago, When i bought it the engine was a 1600 CVH, which I’ve since changed for a 2l Zetec running Megajolt and Weber
45's. It is stamped as being a 1998 car on the VIN plate, but wasn’t registered/SVA’d until 2005. It is well put together, with no nasty
surprises lurking when I took the CVH out. Loads of build pics on my LCB thread.
I changed to Zetec power last January, using RAW supplied engine mounts. I used a new QH clutch and release bearing, with a 1.8 flywheel and ARP
bolts.
The engine was from a 2000 plate Focus, with ( i was told) about 50k on the clock. It certainly runs sweet and quiet, with excellent temp control and
oil pressure. I fitted a Scholar racing baffled sump with windage tray, so no issues with oil surge or hard cornering.
The inlet manifold is from Dunnell (another famed ford engine builder), and the exhaust manifold is from RAW. The twin 45 Webers are a matched Italian
pair, with nice ram pipes, a TPS for the MJ and a Pipercross sausage filter.
Its all driven by a new Megajolt, running a 3D map as tuned by AT Speed in Southend. The car ran to 126bhp at the wheels – about 150bhp at the fly –
which is what i was expecting, and I have the print outs to prove.
It has a new alternator kit from Retro ford, so all pumps pulleys etc run correctly. Other engine bits – Mocal oil cooler, oil temp and pressure
senders, large oil catch tank, CVH header tank, facet red top fuel pump, filter king pressure reg. Also a brand new Odyssey 15 battery to save weight,
located in the ‘boot’.
The main idea was to keep the engine itself standard, so if It did ever let go, it was a cheapish fix.
The rest of the car is in good condition:
3” 4 point Willans harnesses (from a Radical)
Full working gauge set (tacho, speedo, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, fuel)
Hazard switches used on the dash, with battery cut off
Spax adjustable shocks all round
Type 9 gearbox with quickshift
OMP steering wheel
Laser Alloys with R888’s (good few mm left)
Comes with full screen (no wipers though) and fly screen.
Bad Bits:
Few small cracks in the gelcoat – nothing major, certainly not causing any problems but worth mentioning.
Few scuffs on bonnet around the headlights – it’s a tight fit as it has the older style one piece bonnet. Again, nothing serious.
Q-plate – never bothered me, some peeps don’t like em.
Engine number not changed on V5 – i’ve not got round to sorting this – its number is present and correct, and i have the receipt from the purchase off
ebay. Happy to sort before purchase if necessary.
Few scuffs and marks here and there – it has been used, but not abused. Nothing serious but it’s not a new build and worth pointing out. Alloys could
do with a repaint; all straight though.
Thats it! If you’re interested, U2U me, happy to take you out for a drive. I’m near Norwich, but do have access to a trailer so can help with
delivery, but to be honest its perfectly safe to just drive home!
Only got old pics at the mo, so the wheels are different, and the new exhaust is stainless. I’ll try and get some more uploaded when the rain
stops!

A cheeky bump.
Adding more pics later if the rain hold of......
