Title says it all, i've stuck it on eBay too - here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190783265180 but happy to sell to anyone on here if they will give me £100 for it...?

Basically, it was one of MANY bits I got with a rolling Haynes chassis in the summer. I then bought a donor Sierra with a Pinto engine which I intend to use. So I have no need for the Silvertop.

No idea of the background to the engine, the bloke I got it from was intending to use it in his build though, so I can only assume he'd picked one that he thought was decent....

Not knowing anything about it I will likely not be able to answer any questions. I think he said one of the random bits of wiring he gave me was part of the engine loom - but someone else would have to confirm that!!!

Shame your not local as would have that as a spare / bench engine. It looks like a phase 2 so will be post aug 95 but if it does have a full engine number and it shows its pre aug 1995 it would increase its value no end and would even be worth a rebuild for some one wanting to get a set of carbs through iva.

it has number 958u6090_cc stamped on the head (its dohc I guess?) and the longest number i can find stamped on the block, which i assume is the engine number, is 09j97... Mean anything to anyone?

Hi

Engine number can be found on the block flange at the flywheel end exhaust side, its where the crank position sensor reads the flywheel.

engine number is on the edge of the flange that the gearbox bolts to near the crank sensor, exhaust side.

First two letters give you the month and year.

Had a look, rubbed some crap off the block and the first letters are NG as far as i can tell. According to Burton power site that makes it a1992 engine, is that possible?

That probably just means it is a NGA or NGB engine. What are the next few letters.

For example I have an engine with the number RKF XE 742 etc.

RKF is 1.8 and XE is April 1999.
