Would make a great towing car for taking your kitcar to the track and having loads of room in the back of the car for wheels and tyres and camping gear etc. And has the luxury of 3 seats and aircon and CD player etc unlike a basic van.
Bought this a few months ago as a runaround for me instead of running my work Transit van all the time, but not really needed now.
I have recently (in the last couple of thousand miles) had the gearbox removed and fully refurbished by a gearbox specialist as it was crunching a little in to 3rd and 4th gears. It had new syncros fitted for 3rd and 4th gears. Whilst the gearbox was out being refurbished I also thought it best to get the clutch replaced, so it now has a new clutch too. All this work comes with a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty from the garage, of which there is probably 10 months and 10,000 miles remaining. Whilst getting the gearbox and clutch done I also got the garage to carry out a service on the car too.
The car originally was a Gleneagles Conversion from new, and was a Mobility car. This meant for the first 5 years of its life it was meticulously serviced and maintained (service history to prove) and in this time covered 29k miles. Then it was sold and in the last 5 years it has only covered a further 9k miles (4k of which I have done in the last 4 months).
The Gleneagles Conversion means that it has a proper fit-out to make it suitable for wheelchair access. It has a high roof fitted and a good quality ramp in the back which is very lightweight and easy to use. It then has wheelchair strapping / seatbelt points in the floor in the rear, and a little box at the side of the rear to store the seatbelt and straps in when not in use.
This Doblo benefits from the 1.9 JTD multijet diesel engine in it which will go for miles and miles and miles and return a good 53 mpg + when driven sensibly on a good run. Much better motor than the small 1.3 diesels that they did in some of these.
Being the Dynamique model the car comes with alloy wheels, electric windows in the front (sliding side windows in the rear), CD player, and air conditioning which blows ice cold (a definite must in this weather).
There are of course some bad points to the car which unlike the previous owner, I will not hide. The drivers seat has a small burn hole in the base of the seat (see photos). The hinges on the rear doors are showing signs of rust. They still operate perfect and nothing to worry about, but just a visual thing (again see photos). Scuff on side of rear bumper at nearside (see photos). Front brake discs need replacing as they are a little warped but I have already bought the discs and will try get them fitted in the next week or two if I can. And thats it really. It is a used car so do expect a few little marks here and there inside and outside. Nothing major though, just the things I have pointed out.
Other good points; had a new battery in February this year. Just had new rubber floor mats fitted in front.
All in all this is a great car. Perfect if you are after a wheelchair accessible car on a budget, but looking for something reliable, with low mileage, good history, and which should give you many miles of trouble free motoring before needing anything else.
