ralley design escort racks shortened to dims
bart - 14/11/14 at 12:40 PM

I am thinking about offering a shortened to your dims service on new rally design escort racks

both LH and RH 2.2 and 2.4 and 2.7 ratio

done professionally by an engineering company I know .

I could supply complete or offer conversion

this is not an Advert as i am not offering the service yet
just trying to get some feedback as to whether its worth doing.

your feed back would be appreciated.

To what end are you shortening them? I thought people generally used the Escort racks as they come, I have only seen the Sierra racks shortened.

Escort racks are a bit too wide to minimise bumpsteer.

I use an Escort rack and Cortina Geometry uprights and (theoretically) I have 0.1mm of bump steer in my system. Although I'm not going to claim that its that good in realy life due to the tolerance stack-up in the mountings but I dont think the rack is any major hinderance to pretty much eliminating bump steer. The rack did have to be mounted at a very specific height to achive that low number.

I would be interested to know the price to shorten a rack though.

I've got Sierra uprights and escort rack and it has shocking bump steer.

It doesn't have to. A bit of measurement and adjustment of the rack position can eliminate a good chunk

As above with some work you can dial out a lot of bump steer. But the escort rack is a little wider than it could be.

I cannot see how you can eliminate bump steer on a Chapman frame without shorterning an escort rack.

Nobody said you can eliminate it, you can greatly reduce it though with correct rack placement.
