Polishing Alloy Panels
myke pocock - 12/10/08 at 06:18 PM

I know this has topic has been mentioned on here before. Apart from the wings, nose and scuttle, I am polishing the alloy panels. I have used Car Plan T Cut on a soft rag, remove the excess with a soft rag then apply Car Plan Liquid Wax. This removes the residue of the T Cut and can then be polished off with a soft rag. Doesnt cost an arm and a leg like some other alloy plishes and does a good job.

Thats a large amount of ally to polish!

I got some of the polishing mops from Shesto, and some soap bars. Worked a treat on my Stainless steel, so Ally should be a problem.
Just use a paper mask if using any buffing wheels, as you get small bits of cloth covered in the soap and they will get breathed in. not a problem if just polishing by hand. (The soap bars and buffing wheels are really for use with a power driven polisher - too much hard work to do that by hand)

Also McGuiars metal polish is good. Most people say its a bit better than Solvol Autosol. (Both good for hand polishing)

Just my 2 reils worth.
