Fury Spyder Turbo

Fisher Fury Spyder, running pinto turbo

In addition to the description below, there is a nice two page spread in PPC (Practical Performance Car) issue 39, July 2007 which shows the car quite nicely and in particular the engine which is the most 'unique' aspect of the car.

The car runs a pinto turbo engine running at either 7 psi, which is how I run it most of the time or 11 psi when I want a bit more power! I toyed with putting an R1 engine in there for a long time (even had one in the garage) but I couldn’t bring myself to do it in the end. I am pleased that I didn’t as this car now has very ‘nice’ performance. It’s not mad power numbers but the chassis set-up puts it down on the road in a very impressive way. The torque is very impressive meaning that overtaking just requires a prod of the throttle and no gear change! At 7 psi it has 152 RWHP and at 11 psi it has 170 RWHP

It’s pretty much a complete Cosworth bottom end with Cossie pistons and rods but retaining a pinto crank which is plenty man enough for much bigger power figures than I could ever see me running! The head is a big valve pinto head with the unusual sort of spec/components used including double springs etc. I have never seen any markings on the cam so it is of unknown origin but is not ‘Himalayan’ in profile as with forced induction you don’t want (need) high lift long duration cams.

The turbo is a T3 on a pinto Janspeed manifold. It runs with a front mounted alloy intercooler and alloy and Samco pipework. The turbo force feeds a pair of twin 45 Dellorto carbs which in turn are fed by a high pressure fuel injection loop (cosworth pump) and a rising rate fuel pressure valve which increases fuelling to the carbs as the boost rises. Ignition management is from an escort RS turbo.

The car is a Spyder body so no doors and no windscreen. It runs spax coilovers, willwood 4 pots front brakes, and either a nice set of 15” alloys or some 13 inch lazers with either slicks or road legal tyres as the buyer prefers!

I have a folder full of history and build photo’s etc!

Reason for sale is only as I have fallen for a TVR 2500 (Tegwin) and I can’t garage them both and my racing takes a lot of the time when I used to drive this car.

I don’t ‘need’ the money from this sale but would like a quick transaction due to the above reason.

What a fantastic looking car, an absolute steal at that price! If I had the room I would be sorely tempted by this.

Thanks for the positive comments!

I've tried to pitch the price at a low level to gain a quick sale as I want Tegwins TVR.
