MX-5 for sale (bargain due to awesomeness of becoming a dad)

So, with the wonderful news of my impeding fatherhood (any advice welcome, please see other thread ), the fixer upper for the wife has to go....

1600 1992 K reg UK MX-5 - £695 for LCBers

I bought this as a present for the wife for our wedding anniversary, but shortly after we found out the wonderful news that a jnr locoster is now on the way

Its no minter, but underneath is a solid car.

Good Points:

Good runner - Just back from euro trip (800 miles, no issues)
MOT till July, Tax till Jan
UK car so cheaper on insurance
Engine smooth and strong and just serviced (filters oil and plugs)
New Clutch
New Slave Cylinder
No major rust
Everything works (Power steering, elec windows, pop up lights, CD player)
Mohair hood
Tan leather seats

Bad Points:

Its a Cat C, but has been VIC'd and I have checked it thoroughly myself. All slam panels are straight no welding apparent underneath. I reckon it was some panel damage.

Body has seen better days. Most panels are straight, but the n/s rear wing has a dent, and has broken the paint leading to laquer peel. Will need spraying. Both bumpers are faded. all other panels ok for age.

Small split in rear window, repaired with vinyl and doesnt leak, but would ultimately need doing.

Clutch rattle - Unfortunately a common issue with earlier 1600 MX-5's. After a clutch change, the car can develop a rattle on overrun around 2-3000 rpm. check out Miata.net for more info, but it causes no damage, and the clutch is brand new.

Drivers seat bolster knackered.

My plan was to fix it up as and when i had funds, but we now need a family wagon. So! to sum up, a diamond in the rough, or a good parts car OR a track car for buttons - up to you. Car is in Norwich, and can be driven away. U2U me if interested.

Why is it that when I'm looking for such a car, they're either hundreds of miles away or my cash pot is empty?!
Free bump btw....

I was in Norfolk last week but that wouldn't help persuade the hole in the wall to spit money at me!

you need to speak to the nice man in the branch. he'll give you some money.

you'll have to pay it back though, but don't worry about that!

I'll have this next month if you still have it. Just noticed where you are, are you coming up north, or north west anytime?

Hi, I've seen a few UK 1996's go with similar mileagea dn newer hoods going for £600 so might be worth lowering a bit more.
IMHO of course but trying to help give a gauge as i was in the market for a few months.

Time for a change!

Thanks Rich. I appreciate the honesty, always helpful.

It might be off to ebay shortly. Can't believe how cheap these things go for now.
