I may have found a solution to my problem in the form of a non-servo master cylinder of a T reg mark 2 escort. Hopefully it looks like a straight swap
but if not it's still a pretty good start and for not much money. I might go back for the pedelbox.

Nuts Driving Me Brakes!!
Just a short post to conclude for future reference.
I fitted the Mk2 Eccy M/C and now all seems fine. Was a virtual direct replacement for the Sierra one with only the mounting holes being different.
I also redrilled the pedel to give a greater lever arm.
Still not sure if the Sierra unit was at fault or it was just not up to the job.
Should see me through the SVA but might not stop me heading into Goddards.
