this country's had it! i spent 18yrs in the transport industry, we collected milk from farms here in somerset, when i started we had about 600 farms a day to collect. As fuel prices go up the smaller farms get told to put bigger tanks in so that their milk can be collected every other day,as its not viable to collect daily,(so much for fresh milk on your cornflakes!!!)eventually they get pushed out altogether as they dont produce enough milk, and bigger tankers have to be used to cut transport costs,a tanker costs about 70k,and is knackered after about 5 years,as they are run day and night. Then you have the bigger farms that are told they can only produce x amount of litres of milk a year,so when they reach that amount what happens? they have to throw the milk away! (usally gets sprayed on the fields) then we import milk from abroad, and people wonder why farmers and truck drivers are pissed off.
No one likes trucks it seems, but how else is the stuff supposed to get into the shops??? yeah you can use smaller vehicles, but you would use more, which costs more!and cloggs up the roads. Drivers work crap hours for crap money, sometimes living away from home all week, and they just seem to get all the flack for being on the road. And when they've had enough and make a stand, they get moaned at,They cant win.

someone help me off my soap box please

Flat out til you see God, then BRAKE!

it seems a sad case of goverment being totally out of touch with the man and women in the street ........ there must be a huge amount of public money being wasted at the moment
