look good, gimmicky, sort of a immobiliser in some cases,

you have to take it off or someone else will so can't really be left on the car.

if not sucured on can come off whilst driving

i had one but it was too much hassle

Time for a change!

I've got one of the snap off ones and its great. You need a key to remove it and the fixings are secure so I can't see how it is any more likely to come off than a bolt on boss is.

The security thing is useful and it also makes getting in and out of the car with the hood on easier.

I wouldn't be without it - as above it serves as security, also makes getting in/out the car a huge amount easier.

Also looks quite

I dont have a choice, as i cant get my ass in the car without removing the wheel first. Same with getting out.

They are ok, but need a certain amount of paranoid discipline to make sure its definitely on. Mine wont work unless its on properly, and it sounds the horn if on upside down. Any other way, and you cant turn the steering rack, so really it only goes in one way with a very positive "Clunk" as it locks in.

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Check out one of my old posts. I lost my dream car to a cheap QR boss. DONT BUY A CHEAP QR BOSS. My Willwood one was confusing and gives no positive sign to shows its on properly. It also offers NO security as it shows a hex of about 27mm so some strong hands or a wrench will still turn the wheels.

Surely they wouldn't be allowed to sell the cheap ones if there wasn't some sort of locking mechanism on them?

When I change wheels/tyres etc, on mine an others cars, I always make sure theyre on, rather than just assuming. And all the WR bosses that I've used and driven with have either been definitely on (cos i piled to check) or not on.
PS, when they werent on, I didn't drive the car, until it was safe...

Edited, cos my phone keyboard has a mind of uts own!

the cheap 17 quid one that came with my car did have a locking device obviously. The problem being is that you had to slide the wheel on quite along way. It was hard to slide on so even if you thought it was on and have it a good tug it may not actually be on. Also the securing pin was in the same place weather the wheel was on or not so have no indication.
