PCB etching system

Self-contained PCB etching system for sale. I bought this with the intention of setting it up at home to make prototype and one-off boards but in reality the logistics of finding a sensible place to put it where I can also get water and drainage hooked up to it are too big to overcome in this house and with no plans to move for at least another couple of years I could do with freeing up the cash and the storage space.

It's one of these: http://www.megauk.com/pcb_labstation.php

It came from a college that was closing down and doesn't appear to have ever been used. I know previous ones I've seen are heavily orange stained by the ferric chloride and this one doesn't have any of that. It has discoloured a little however due to age I assume - I'm guessing it's 10+ years old.

It has unfortunately suffered a little vandal damage and has some odd scratches and marks, plus all the glass heater elements have been smashed. Mega list the heater units at £37.50 each (ex VAT I assume) in their July 2011 price list; you'd need three to get it back to full working order but you may not want to use heat in all three tanks? The price list also has instructions for refurbishing the system including heater replacement.

I should point out that I've never actually had it powered up or running, but with the condition of the internals suggesting that it's never been used I don't expect any problems. I don't have the keys for it, but all they do is lock the cabinet underneath so don't affect it's use. I seem to remember one of the rubber waterproofing caps it missing from one of the buttons but they're easy to get. There are probably other little issues that you'll discover when recomissioning it but as far as I know all the major parts are there. I mention all this so as to set the expectation that a little fiddling will be required to get the system up and running; it's not going to be a 'plug in and go'. However, if you're capable of using a system like this you'll no doubt have the right mind set to make it work pretty easily!

Located near Aylesbury in Bucks. You'll need a van or trailer to collect. I could possibily deliver if you're local-ish.

To buy one from Mega would cost you £1750 including VAT. Asking £500.

Cheers, Chris
