Suspension Bushes
Paradoxia0 - 14/3/09 at 03:07 PM

Hi All

Due to having "excess wear" in my rear suspension bushes on the Luego (only done 2000 miles!) I need to get some new ones... Does anyone know what size and where I can get them from?

Regards

Mark

I assume there is some reason why you don't want to get them from Luego

Could you measure them and get some the same size (only unworn) direct from Superflex?

Crush tube problems??

Strangely I didn't think about getting them from Luego! D'oh! I have emailed them for costs.

I have no idea why they are so worn but will get a better idea when I dismantle the suspension (which I haven't had time to do since the MOT yet).

Thanks

Mark

Did the mot bloke rock the wheels and find the bushes moved a little ( wheel moves in and out at top )?

Have you corrected the problem with the crush tubes and bushes?

possibly just need to trim a little of the bushes so the bracket tightens up on the crush tube. May also need to sleve the crush tube.

The symtom of the above looks like wear on the bushes until you take it apart.

That sounds exactly like what the problem is Paul!

I will investigate further...

Might be worth doing a search for crush tubes, it has been covered several times. Made a huge difference to my car and I know of several others that have had improvements.

I had to trim my crush tubes slightly to match the outer face distance of the bushes in the wishbone. Before that the bushes slid along the tube resulting in a slight knock.

Most of the people I have met that have Luego's complain about the stiff suspension and squeeking. I found when attempting to sort this out on my car that the crush tubes are too short causing the suspension to bind when the bolts are tightened . Skimming the outside of the polybush helped enormously , longer crush tubes would have helped. This was pointed out to both Ben Lord and the previous owner of Luego , don't know if anything was ever done about sorting the problem your guess is as good as mine.

Mark,
my dad's lathe is all up and running, so if we need to trim or make new crush tubes then thats a possibility.

Also, do you think the 'off-roading' may have had something to do with it? The bushes now maybe egg shaped.
