Couple bits machining WTD
Miks15 - 17/4/09 at 09:31 AM

Im after a couple of bits machining. The bits in question are for my suspension strut inserts. Mine are a bigger diameter to sierra inserts therefore i cant just use an off the shelf item.

If someone can help me out ill get drawings to them striaght away.

Cash waiting

Cheers

Mikkel

Got any pics? If they will fit in a 9" lathe i may be able to help.

It is not quite to scale as all ive done is taken the sierra adaptor drawing and changed 2 dimensions so the overall diameter is larger. But all the dimensions are there.

Thanks

So you want that 52mm taking down? How much by my good man?

I think he wants the whole thing machined from scratch as it's bigger than the sierra ones.

You'll want to do the taper with the appropriate reamer, you're very unlikely to get the angle accurate enough for the ball joint to locate propery by trying to do that on a lathe.

In that case why not just buy some that fit the Sierra uprights?

that depends on whether the lathe in question is CNC or manual, i could easily do that angle on my lathe but thats because its CNC - and coozer its because he needs them similar but slightly larger than standard sierra ones on the diameter that fits into the strut.

My lathe is manual, there was no such thing as cnc in the 1800's when I started at the pit
