Set of wheels for SVA
chris_harris_ - 21/4/09 at 08:08 AM

One of the fails for my SVA was the wheels stick out pat the arches, and its only about 5mm.
The back would be easy to sort as i can space the wing, but the fronts are sikaflexed on and aint moving.
Anyone got a set of 14" steel wheels with narrower tyres on that i could borrow for the re test.
Failing that anyone got any ideas??

I have a set of Peugeot steel wheels/tyres, that are the same PCD as the ford, but much lower offset... Yours if you want them....?

Did you use these for your SVA, and would a lower ofset bring them further inboard, i can never work it out?

not in the case of ford to peugeot the lower the offset the further out they are

I know because if I had used ford wheels I would have needed spacers but because I used peugeot wheels I didnt need them.

Well these ones are deffo the right way round. If I put them on my car, with no spacers, they nearly foul the chassis. If I put ford wheels on, then they move out about 20mm.

I didnt use them for anything other than build wheels. There are photos in my archive of the rolling chassis on them....

I suppose it also depends on the width of the wheel, most steel wheels are much thinner than alloys.
If you say they used to sit well in under th arches then i am sure they would be fine.
the only other question is if the tyres are ok for sva.
Sorry to be a pain. i do appreciate all the help.
Thanks

Completely off topic but - Twybrow, I just glanced at your avatar and did a double-take as I thought you'd built a Locost Bigfoot!!
