Just thought it was worth a try to see if anyone had a megasquirt system for sale before i fork out on a new one.
I almost brought a megajolt system earlier before i realised it doesn't control the fuel injectors (doh!)
Where are you thinking of getting one from ?
With the weak pound usa prices are higher. I new I should have got one last summer
Can you buy the kits in the UK ?
Yeah but a new kit from usa was about £80 odd quid (cant remember the site but it was easy to find).
I got my Megajolt from Trigger Wheels
I gave them a call to discuss my needs before I bought it, they were very knowledgeable and helpful. Even went through the process and told me I
didn't need the full kit as my engine came with most bits already, so made a bespoke package.
I'd recommend them if no1 else has one for sale and you want to buy new! Only other suggestion is fleabay, and then you're buying without
knowing if it's in working condition.
My 2p's worth!
This is the site.
$139 = £87.26 plus import tax and delivery should hopefully be around £120 (guess)

Trigger-Wheels also supply Megasquirt, but having seen the price you've just got of circa £120, I think the £300 odd they want is possibly a tad excessive!
I bought my kit off of Bill Shurvington.
He can be contacted via this email address;
bill(at)shurvinton(dot)fsworld(dot)co(dot)uk
He offers a trouble shooting email service and has contacts who have fitted the system to just about every possible engine.
You might want to consider spending the extra on the V3 PCB if you want to use it for igntion. There were numerous improvements over the 2.2 PCB.

I was looking at the DIY autotune site. I think for the extra I would want a v3 board.

I just want to get the thing started for as little money as possible but il think about that![]()
does anybody know how much £££ you are looking at adding to the prices on that site to import a kit?
How much do the DIY kits cost from Bill?
I bought MS form DIY autotune last year, fairly well specced, was about £200 with lambda controler and extras, and that £70 import duty. Still cheap like, but would have been nice to have that in the back pocket.

theres members on here who build megajolts, so i'd think they do megasquirt too. i get my jolt from paulf. see if he's got any
A V2.2 would work ok though it is easy to set up with an Edis to do the ignition if not using the original coil and dizzy and if using low impedance
injectors then a resistor pack from a Volvo or other car fitted with low impedance injectors saves the bother of fiddling with injector duty cycle
settings.
Ive been using a 2.2 for the last 3 years with no problems at all although if building another I would consider a v3 if cost was not important.
Paul.

I can understand that, but the V2.2 has no built in coil drivers and no built in support for low impedance injectors if you need to use them. Just make sure it meets all your requirements, otherwise it will be a much larger waste of money!

Iv just sent Bill Shurvinton and email and will post here when i get an idea of price.
Thanks for the ever useful help
cheers speedy, id be interested in knowing if there is a price difference between importing and buying it from him now the pound has weakened since other members bought theirs!
Look forward to your post speedy
Just FYI, iv had a reply saying he only does kits atm. Hopefully should get a price in the next one
kits as in DIY?
d'oh, sounds like he got the wrong end of the stick
I got mine from the USA, £130 (ish) +P&P.
Its a V3 with a Mk1 Processor.
It took me a full day of 8+ hours to build.
I am an experienced constructor, being a practising Radio Ham of 30 years.
So have a have a little experience of weilding a soldering iron.
Its a fair bit of work assembling.
However, its NOT difficult.
The kits even include instructions on how to open the box (usually the instructions are inside the box
).
To be honest, the instructions are very good, and detailed.
All the components are in bags, and are very well labelled.
eg:
Resistor 10K
Qty 3
Brown, Black, orange
R1,5,25
So its almost impossible to get it wrong unless you dont read the instructions or put certain components in the wrong way round. Some capacitors, all
diodes, chips and trasisitors / fets are handed and must go in the board the correct way round or they wont work or will produce odd faults /
conditions or even be damaged. Just take care and double check before soldeing it in.
The hard bit is deciding on exactly what you need, and installing and jumpering it for those options.
The manual covers EVERY option. Hence you need to read through it, decide what you DONT need, then I ran a highlighter across those pages / sections
so I knew to ignore them.
Then it becomes much easier.

thanks wilkingj, that sounds good to me. So you bought megasquirt I with the V3 board?
Do you run squirt and spark from that? Where (off the tinterwebs?) and when did you buy it?

Beware of the VAT on importing it.
You will have to pay VaT when importing it.
They wont fudge the price for customs, or say its secondhand. So you have to pay!
Just information to compare with what speedy comes up with, these are the prices for an imported kit:
$250.00 - MSII PCBv3
$192.00 - MSI PCBv3
$34.50 - UK delivery
therefore:
MSII
£156.99 + £21.66 + £26.80 = £205.45
adjusted for 5% import duty = £215
MSI
£120.60 + £21.66 + £18.10 = £160.36
adjusted for 5% import duty = £168
(all data taken from DIYautotunes ebay page, currency conversion using todays prices from xe.com, tax taken as 15%)

I have just completed mine megasquirt2 V3, supplied by Bill S. Cost was approx £265 but included the megastim and upgraded drivers for direct coil
control BIP373s. This was ordered about 2 months ago, so I have no idea what the exchange rate/prices are doing at the moment.
As said by someone else, about 8 hours to assemble. There are a few transistors that have pins very close together, so I'd reccomend assembling
the simulator first for a bit of practice.
Bill has been very helpful with the odd queries I've had. He does take a while to respond sometimes.

I had a reply the other day:
Base MS1 v3 is £160, MS2/V3 is £205, then options on top depending what you want to do with ignition.
is that price assembled or do you have to get the soldering iron out?
thats kit price.
Yep, kit price but not including parts like EDIS (or whatever its called) etc
I decided to go for just the basic megasquirt (no edis) as i am skint
Hopefully i can upgrade at a later date?
I had an email from bill to say he wouldnt have the kits in stock for 1 - 2 weeks.
