Weld a nut on to the old plug to get it out , should should then be able to measure the thread if you can't get a new one.

How did you get on, Steve? Did you manage to get the old one out? Just that I'm in the process of trying to remove my filler plug too, and am having the same fun finding / sizing a replacement.

Thanks - Francis.

IIRC they are M14

Certainly a std metric thread anyway. Just use a SHCS and washer.

I have only ever had one thats come out easily. The others have all been undone with a hammer and cold chisel.

Thanks. It'd be impossible to guess the thread until it's finally out. But better now than half-way round Oulton...

Cheers - Francis

To remove my diff plug i cut a slot across it with a mini grinder / cutting disc then used a flat bar to remove the plug
