Mountney steering wheel spacer
sebastiaan - 26/10/09 at 06:56 PM

Hi,

I could really use a steering wheel spacer on my car. Trouble is, I'm running a Mountney wheel / boss combo on mine, so the "standard" spacers won't work. Does anybody have one going spare, or know if these are made / sold new anywhere?

Anything between 50 and 100 mm would be OK.

what size spacing is your boss ? small center or large center (old style)?

I've the old large (6*100 or 6*101?) pitch wheel and boss.

Better off changing the boss & wheel to a small one & getting a sparco space

or have a machine shop fab one up

were do you want the spacer for, mountney boss should fit on the shaft no probs or do you mean the black self cancelling spacer off the sierra,

I want the wheel to be closer to me. This would give me some more space for my hands since I'm running doors that taper out.

Have not got the funds to replace the entire steering wheel ATM... :-(

Get a machine shop to turn you a spacer up - my mate did this on his Westfield.

There is also a guy selling spacers on the westfield owners club but I'm pretty sure they are for the 3 hole wheels. He might be up for making one for a mountney though - no harm in asking.

that being the case can you not just put a couple of large nuts between the steering column mount and the bent steering column mounting bracket under the scuttle to move the whole column towards you
