Hi all whats the best quick fix to stop my garage roof dripping its a asbestos type roof on a precast concrete garage
removing the roof is not a option

I think the roof will be to wet for that i should have done it in the summer

It might not be a quick fix.. but it would be about the best.

We attatched wooden batterns to whats left of the hook bolt threads sticking up on the existing roof.

Filled the gaps between the battons with cheep pink panther type insulation

Then went over the top of all that with proper steel cladding (you can get reclaimed stuff or even have it cut to length at trade places)
Then can make or buy bigger facia boards to cover the extra height.

Its a very worthwhile investment for somewhere Dry, warmer and generally more appealing to go out and work in, and the best bit is you can do it over a few nights or days while the garage stays watertight.

You might even win some brownie points with er indoors as it'll make it look alot more presentable than the Asbestos

i got 20 secondhand sheets of coraline corragated roofing you could put over the top yours free if you want them bit of a trip as im in bourne lincs

we use liquid plastic products good and can be applied in damp conditions and have a 10year guarentee, they do a specific one for asbestos roofs, but may not be the cheapest liquid plastics

Mine was in a right mess with lots of cracks and i tried all sorts for a quick fix.
Then i tried something I already had lying around the garage.
Auto underseal. Out of desperation I painted it thickly on the inside of the roof even when it was raining at times and its worked a treat.
Not a drop has got through in 12 months.

In Holland they sell some kind of fibre reindforced bitumen. Can be used under water!

To be honest, I would replace the asbestos for something else.

I should imagine the sheets ready coated with th insulation would be quite alot more expencive.

Also if you strip the Asbestos type roof off rather than covering it (in the method I suggested) you will probably have quite a hard time tring to dispose of it anywhere as there really picky about it!.

In the summer the inside of ours may well get a coat of white emulsion or Masonry paint onto the asbestos type stuff on the inside, should seal it a bit better and look brighter in there.

I just noticed today that my roof is doing exactly the same

Will need to get it sorted pretty soon.

Asbestos sheets are a ********* for splitting especially if water gets into a tiny crack and freezes.

Mine has leaked for Years at the Joints.

Then a month a go I had a brain wave and got some tape from B&Q it is metal on onside and Tar or the other about 4" wide roll is 10m long @ £7

Using a blow torch heat it up and stick it along the joints(on the inside of garage). (watch if it drips on skin it hurts). So far after 2 months garage is bone dry where as it used to be a swimming pool.

Have previsously tride silicon etc in the joints and it just fell out.
