What kind of shells are you blasting ? You'll need something a lot more abrasive than baking powder if you
want to remove rust and paint unless you have a really good compressor and drying system, it works on oily metal like zinc or aluminium but rusty
steel is going to need a lot more bulk. He uses one of these
We have two sierra shells requiring blasting.
Our blasting man has a large compressor and very heavy grit to do the chassis.
The Soda is just to do the painted panels and joints
We have had stuff done a few times but he only has the heavy media.
Hence the need to aquire it.
wonder if Andy has some used garnet going next time he cleans the bed out?
Any Drilling Mud Additive place??
Try sugar, it's going to be expensive though. A friend of mine used to use crushed walnut shells when he was blasting but he's retired now. See if these will send you some up.

Try Pometon in Telford, shropshire, they are blast media distributors.
not sure if they do sodium bicarb, but be surprised if they didnt or could put you onto a trade supplier.
Cheers
Craig
Crush walnut shells or cherry stones are the usual choice for delicate stuff, I know when I worked for BAA 16 or so years ago we bought it from a major Iron monger/engineers merchant.
Soda Ash is Sodium Carbonate.
You want Sodium Bicarbonate.
These people make it; http://www.brunnermond.com/
IMS minimum order 1Tonne.
