Metal Punch?
Bass1st - 29/3/10 at 08:19 PM

Looking to put some holes in my aluminium bonnet at it seems that a metal punch is the best way to go. Anyone got any in their garage before I head to ebay? Any size considered.

what you need is a" Q.Max sheet metal punch, if you want nice burr free holes buy a new sharp one they arnt expensive .hth. .m.

I have a hole saw designed for wood that attaches to my drill. Will this work?

hole saw would work but a punch would make a tidier, easier job of it with less chance of making a mess of your bonnet and no need to clean up the edges of the hole after drilling .m.

IKEA sell those screw-together hole punches for not much money. They're for putting holes in stainless sink IIRC.

Use lots of lube (ooo-eeer) if your using wood cutting bits in aluminium. Otherwise they bung up with swarf and don't cut.
Will work though
