C20XE oil pressure relief valve
stevegough - 3/6/11 at 01:48 PM

Have an issue with my car's replacement engine - oil pressure dropped very low as I arrived home a couple of days ago - when I came to restart it the following day, oil pressure is virtually zero and the oil press warning light is on.

Removed the spring and retaining nut, eventually managed to pull the steel valve out with a hook- shaped screwdriver and a pair of mole grips - it was stuck pretty fast.

Now - I know the way forward is to fit one of SBD's nylon valves - £60 - what a bargain - but I've tried several times today to ring them only to get the message that they are unavailable. So I have tried emailing them - the first was sent back 'Message delivery failure' so I have emailed them on their order line - several hours ago with no response.

Is there anyone that has one of these nylon valves surplus to requirements or does anyone know if there are any other suppliers?

Thanks for reading and for any replies, Cheers, Steve.

What do you thinks going through my mind at the moment, Ben ???

I've got several 'standard' relief valves if that's any use

I don't think so, Ben - I've tried both of mine and they both stick....

Dare I ask how much they cost.

£69 delivered.

Absolutely stunned - !

No, not at the exorbitant price of what amounts to a plastic pen - top, though that was pretty unbelieveable.

Cleaned the pressure relief valve port and fitted this pen-top and I have instant steady 70 psi oil pressure!

Guess who'll be out for a blat shortly??
