Ahhh, never thought of caterham, I tried westfield as they are local. Luckily I'm down that way tomorrow, so shall pop in .

Cheers guys

I bought one from caterham and it was no good. I bought mine (ford one) from Burtons which I think was about 25 quid.

The 2 are definently different!

Why was it no good Neil?

^^ there are 2 kinds of mount that will fit the gearbox:

one for the older 4spd escorts etc. - this is much stiffer and used by caterham, westfield and lots of builders on this forum.

the other kind is the sierra / mk3 granada one - this is the kind that alot of sierra based kits are built for (inc. my dax) but the mount is much more flexable so lots of people have changed to the older type (this often means welding on some mounts to the chassis, but I'm going to try for a bolted on adapter on my dax)

I have both kinds at the moment so can measure whatever you like - got my old style one from westfield (although caterham are sometimes cheaper ) and for the new style one from ford - they both cost around the same

here's the pics so you can see what the differences are:

aswell as the sizes in those pics there is about an 11mm height difference (from the chassis mounting face to the gearbox mounting face)

sierra / granada / scorpio / 5 speed one:

mk2 escort / caterham / westfield / 4 speed one:

Great info thanks

The way mine mounts the chassis I could use either... caterham it is

just watch out for the height difference if its had the other type of mount before...
