Sheet metal.

I need small off cut quantities of 6mm aluminium and 6mm steel.

Does anyone know anywhere in Southend / Essex where I can buy offcuts? I don't need enough to make an order to metals4u worthwhile.

Many thanks in advance.

Have you looked on Noggin end metals website? Its not cheap but you can order exactly what you want. Forget the chaps name but he is very friendly and helpful!

There must be a local fabricator local to you. I've gone to one in Gloucester 4-5 times while I've been building the 150r and picked up aluminium and steel sheet, some lengths of threaded bar, angle and box. All a few quid each as it's in their "to be used for something one day" pile.

It does mean leaving the house and not buying online though... which people seem to have an aversion to these days

Polair in Purdeys way will supply small sections of sheet metal Brian and will also do metal cutting to shape if you ask them.

They actually make air con equipment for buildings but at one time they happenned to take over a metalwork fabricator's old premises near Roots Hall and just got so many enquiries for metalwork they carried on doing it. Theyve made up bits of stainless angle for me for decorative work on the house and ive sent a few mates there for kitchen spashbacks etc.

Word of advice....don't f**k with the OP

Anyone calling 6mm "sheet metal" deserves respect....

Anything more than 3mm is generally classed as plate. I got it
