Depends what year of R1 you're putting in it. The older ones redline around 11-12k, the newer ones (2004 onwards) are just under 14k. Make very sure you know where it red-lines and what ratio of diff will give you the right gearing. I have a 5VY and 13" wheels running 185/70 profile tyres. I started with a 3.14 because I thought my rev-limit was lower, now that it's up and running and I've driven it, I'm replacing with a 3.6...
