Plastic or metal Maf ?

AndyW - 2/9/12 at 05:57 PM

metal. Had a fault code saying air temp sensor voltage

Is the air temp sensor in the maf?

big_wasa - 2/9/12 at 06:12 PM

On the plastic one yes, metal one no. Its a push fit in the bottom of the rubber tube.

I have a spare you can have, I will upload a photo.

have you got one conected ? how have you wired it ?

Thats the thing Warren, not got one connected, just a spare plug on the loom. Runs ok, a bit rich i think. I have a threaded hole on the inlet plenham which I think the factory use for the emerald injection temp sender.

Its the only thing missing from the system.

That looks like the one! Just now wondering how Im going to fit it into a threaded hole!!!

U2U me and I will send you some beer tokens for it!!

thanks

Andy

If you want to you can test them with a Hairdryer, just connect up an voltmeter to the sensor in ohms scale and watch for the difference in continuity as the sensor heats up and then cools down again

Also you can check the ref'(5 volt supply) voltage from the ECU using the voltmeter

On mine I spun the sensor in the lathe and very carfully self taped it into the boss in the mani. Failing that scope it with a meter and match it to one that will fit.

It will run VERY rich with out as I think it defaults to minus 40 deg. I know with some throttle body set ups people just tape it up under the mani. I doubt there is much differance in tempreture.

Just pm me your address again, I have a few bits to post one day this week.

Oh and whats in the boss at the moment ? It wont like air leaks.

AndyW - 2/9/12 at 06:44 PM

In the boss is a bolt so no air leaks, and your right the fault code reader showed air inlet temp as minus 40

I will pm address

Thanks Warren
