WTD - Xflow Mounts
Dick Axtell - 24/9/12 at 09:12 AM

Replacement engine mounts needed, in order to improve sump-to-ground clearance. Just wondered if anyone has a set, hiding at the back of their garage? The type I've been using is fairly simple, sits on those Land Rover rubber disc mounts.

Try looking for Transit van engine mounts.. that did the job for me... you may need to adapt your bonnet though.. bulge/scoop etc.. good luck

I have some westfield ones - but they didn't give much clearance so i made a 3/4 'box' that they sit on instead of going directly on the chassis. Lifts them up ..... err byt 3/4"

On a similar idea to Steve M, we used a couple of these, to make the job simpler, we cut a slot to the centre, that way you could slip them in without having to remove the engine.

They are about 3-4mm thick, if that's all you need of course.

Thanks all for the replies. MikeR, didn't you use those blue ones? As per pic following.

OK, so being too clever 4 my own good, I made the shorter mount brkt, on right. Sold blue one to another Locoster. Thought it was you, MikeR(??). Just have to make some new ones. Unless there are any old brkts lying about in yor garage?

Steve, thanks for the suggestion. Reckon I'll need to raise engine by approx 25mm. Need more than washeres!

Hmm. They do look familiar but they are not fitted. If I did have them I think I've passed them on. No idea who too thou. Why cant you put some one inch box under the existing mounts and bolt through them. Easy solution.

Ps I think I also have some examples of the DIY mounts shown by Dick Axtel again a measurement or 2 would help
Those B n Q washers are a bit pricey!!

Mike, thanks for this pic. Gotta run tape measure over my homemade mounts, to check existing dimension.
