English axle LSD or diff
birdy7up - 1/6/13 at 02:26 PM

Hi,
As a newbie to the forum I have an old locost requiring a rear axle rebuild including crown & pinion etc.

I have been advised to try and find a LSD but would consider good diff or complete english axle to fit Mk3/4 Cortina.

Any bits or advise greatly welcomed

Cheers

No such thing as an english axle to fit a Mk3/4/5 Cortina.

In the Cortina the English axle ended with the MK2

So i guess the question is, is it an english (escort) axle or a cotina axle. Either post some pics or check if the diff comes out through the back or front. Front is english, back is cortina.

Maybe me but English was used in all as was atlas they're all rwd no difference it's a transverse configuration either way! Both point to the front so confuses the chap asking the question!,like I say may have misunderstood not attempting to insult anyone!

Hi all,
Thanks for replies,

I have removed the axle and is with the company rebuilding I will call on Monday to confirm if its english or not.

He did inform me when looking to source parts it was definitely mk 4/5 cortina.

Will update with further info on Monday

Cheers

Aaron n Sim
no worries didn't want to confuse just thought its the easy way to tell if its english or atlas as there are few combinations of each at differing widths.

good luck with it birdy
