balancing pistons
Mikef - 14/10/13 at 11:48 AM

Have some new pistons, for winter project. They have no balancing pad on the underside of the crown. Any body any suggestions as to where to remove the metal from without weakening the crown or the pistons. There is 4g difference. They are K series 160 pistons.

Thanks

You want to balance rods end to end as well as total weight this can be done by removing weight from either end then weigh piston pin and rod you can remove weight from inside the gudgeon pin to balance pistons
4 grams is not a lot as pistons and rods can be over 500

Thanks for this, I was going to do the rods as well , but had never thought about taking out of the gudgeon pins. I know its not a lot , but it all counts and I have the time.

Is it a race car? If not don't bother.
