Looking for a autobox for a 3.5 rover v8 engine I've got coming Chears sprocky

You want to forget the ones fitted to SD1 rovers, what you want is a zf4hp22 as fitted to classic range rovers discoveries and BMWs etc. Use the tail shaft off a RWD car, 4 speed + lockup, no electronics just a kick down cable.

It will be far superior to a 3 speed box, has good gear ratiosand lasts very well, also I expect far more available.
