pretty sure B&Q do 10 mm solid aluminium rod, will it be strong enough?

they also do larger diamer aluminium tube.

a 10mm aluminium rod will bend quite easily. if it has to be 10mm id go for stainless.. otherwise you need something a bit fatter if you deffo want aluminium

That'll bend on the first gear selection - stainless tube will be better and won't weigh much.
