Zetecs DO NOT need Vernier timing wheels. the standard timing is set via a timing plate fitted into the rear odf the camshaft. The belt is fitted to loose sprokets at the front, then the belt is tensioned and the cam sprokets are THEN clamped up tight onto the camshafts thus giving perfect adjustment. (and the timing plate removed before turning over engine and starting)
IF you are setting the timing acording to lobe angles then you just dispense with the rear timing plate, adjust your lobe angles and then clamp off the camshafts so they cant move while you tighten the pulley clamp bolts. Hence you DO NOT need a vernier.

But if you’re adjusting timing on a rolling road, vernier pulleys allow you to do it without removing the rocker cover every time?

im aware that you can do it by moving the cams etc, however i would much prefer to have proper vernier wheels and be able to keep everything locked in place!
