WTD: Big Sierra Drums...
To fit on the back in place of the 8" jobbies currently there...
Have bid on some 3L Capri ones so will see if they fit (doubtful) and the handbrake mechanism is different.
Anyone got big 9" ones, or can advise which Sierra had the biggest drums on the back?
Thanks,
Steve

if you want more braking power at the rear, then why not upgrade to disks?

As another post said on here today potentially bigger drums will only give more heat dissipation. Have you thought of fitting Green Stuff shoes for
more efficiency on the current set-up or am I trying to teach my Nan to suck eggs?

The strictly correct answer to your question "which Sierra had the biggest drums on the back?" is the XR4i which had 10" drums.
However I would have thought that a disc conversion would be the answer.

Drums will do fine for me, you see I once had a MK2 escort with Capri 2.8i drums on and they were great... you know like the extra slow down when you
change down?
Current intention is a Wilwood conversion on the front with a 260mm disc (up from 240) and bigger drums at the back.. UNLESS some one has enough spare
parts to enable me to convert to discs... (CHEAP!)
My local scrappy does not keep Sierra's, when they come in they are tipped off the lorry into the crusher
So, in a nut shell, anyone got
A. A set of 9" (or 10" drums...
B. A disc conversion...

If it helps, and I couldn't swear to this, I have a feeling that the 10" setup might have been found on transits of the same era.

Checked, same diameter, different flange fitment onto hub, drum bolts round the outside.

I have a pair of the larger drums from (i believe) a MkII RS2000 Escort, not sure if they would fit, transport might be an issue!
