Big power battery
The new toy arrived yesterday (Thanks to andyb for the hand pushing it into the garage!)
I need a big power battery for it. The previous owner fitted a Smart battery to it, which i doubt would even power the front wiper blade!
An optima Red top would be ideal, but anything similar would do. Im not too worried about space, as ive got loads where its located but would prefer
to keep size and weight down to a minimum.
Any ideas?
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

First off red tops are far from the best you can get much better batteries of the same size. Coming from a BIG car stereo background I know my
batteries.
IMO Batteries worth considering are:
Hawker Oddysey SP2150 is very good but perhaps a little large and heavy, they do smaller ones but the model numbers dont come to mind.
Northstar batteries, these come in a multitude of sizes NSB90 is what I used to use but again a little large, a NSB75 would be more appropriate I
would think.
Finally if you want to keep the cost down there are some batteries that come up on ebay every now and then made by Hawker, they car called gennesis
they are very small, but also very powerfull for their size and can be had for £25, retail on these is significantly more but these are a couple of
years old used in UPS backup systems, as such they are very well looked after and should have many more years life left in them. As I said they are
only small but I have used one as a main battery in a 55 plate mondeo diesel with no problems, however if you think you need more you could always use
two, this will also allow you to position them for best weight distrobution
The seller currently does not have any listed, but this is one of his auctions give them a call and they will probably have stock not listed on ebay
they usually have pallets of them (how I normally buy them!)

Anyway hope this helps.

Thanks for that.
I appreciate that the Optima batteries arent the cheapest, but i wasnted a red top for its 900A cold cranking amps abilities.
I deal with UPS systems at work on a large scale, and i already have one at home, but its not quite man enough for the job. I used an Optima battery
for a winch when i was into landrovers, and they are very very good. Im lookingfor something of that ilk, as a primary battery for the new kit car.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.
