WTD: Mondeo Silvertop MAF

Hi all,

Been a while since I posted on here and yet again I need a part. This time though its is for my aged tintop and not the Locost :-(

Had a rather embarassing and expensive breakdown over the weekend. Car (Mk1 Mondeo 1.8 silver top zetec) wouldn't start after a long run. Would sometimes idle but the slightest bit of throttle and it would stall. On full throttle it would hunt between 1 and 4.5k rpm. Scratched my head and tried everything I could think of but failed to diagnose the fault.

Next came the expensive part. I wasn't a member of any breakdown company nor did I have any recovery cover at all so i had to join the RAC there and then which cost me £130. Okay so didn't have to chose the RAC but it was the only number I had with me.

Chap turned up within half an hour and within 5 minutes had disconnected the MAF and all was fine, albeit running on a fixed MAF reading. Felt rather embarrased and ashamed to say the least! Still, I got home and now have 12 months cover.

So the purpose of the post is to ask all you silvertop runners if you might still have the MAF knocking about awaiting some beer tokens? Please!

PS Not sure on all the different ones Ford used over the years but my MAF is the silver bodies one with the black plastic plug on top. Will post a pic if required.

Cheers

Rich

Edited to say: Mondeo is a 1995 'N' reg but appears to be a bit of a change over model, i.e. some bits from early some from late mk1s.

scrapie, Round here you would get one for a fiver on a good day.

There is a code on the black top of the sensor. Just match that up to the one you get.
