WTD: Mesh for bonnet vents

During a big garage clearout I threw away a 2'x6' sheet of steel mesh.

Of course, now I need some to do the bonnet vents!

Went to B&Q and jaw almost dropped. A piece the size of A4 or A3 paper is about £30!!!

WTF???

Any good ideas on where I can get mesh (3-4mm holes I guess) from? There must be something I can recycle it from?

This really should not be that expensive!!!

Thought of chicken wire but holes much too big.

Cheers,
James

I have some stainless mesh sheet that I bought for another project, I'll photograph it for you, if it is any good then I am sure that we can come to some arrangement, how big a piece do you need? Just thinking about postage,...

Thankyou- yeah pics would be good then I can see if it's suitable!

I guess 2 A4 size bits would be more than enough and might fit in a large envelope?

Halfords were selling mesh for a tenner recently.
Not sure what size but people seemed to be getting it for nose cones..

sitting here looking at a wastepaper bssket made of mesh, plus some in/out trays.
I recently used some espanded satinless mesh/lathe for rendering. Trouble is it is lethally sharp.
Another thought, speakers etc often have a metal mesh, especially pro/musician stuff.
