WTD: Cheap Tin-Top
I'm going to have to look for a new tin-top sooner than I hoped
so what have you got for sale now or in the next few months ?
I was looking at the 02 onwards fiesta's or even another pug 106 - but I'm trying to keep my options open
(the french car build quality doesn't bother me as long as they are simple enough - so bog std. models are perfect )
I don't care if its old (the older the better in some ways), but it needs to be in decent nick - with no real rust or running issues (although
I'm not scared of a little work, I don't want the sort of issues I've got with the current tin-top!)
it also needs to be fairly cheap for parts, fuel, insurance.....
parts cost has always put me off some makes (i.e. BMW, Merc, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, subaru....) but I may be getting a false impression of the cost
for some of these....
the current car does 35-40 mpg - i really need something a little better than this
getting insurance isn't really an issue, but the cheaper the better
the ideal car is a granny mobile with a small petrol engine thats been to the shops and back once a week for the last 10+ years (rare, but they do
exist I've had 2 of them before )
I guess the budget could be as much as £1500, but £500 would be better
so what have you got ?
cheers

I guess it's not your cup of tea, but I've still not advertised this anywhere else yet:

You could have it for £1600 and the tank is full. Bullet-proof it is too.

Yes, Shame!!! I missed out on it too, I was bidding on it for my daughter, why even bother at all to put a link to your ebay car on here if your
going to end it before the end, there's so many "jokers" on ebay "sellers" aswell

Fiesta 1.25 zetec
Year: 2000
Mileage: 92000
MOT: 10 months
Tax: 3months
Good bits: Very little rust, new brake pipes, flexi's and 1 caliper, sailed through MOT
Bad bits: Couple of dings and scratches where it caught some roof tiles last year, anti-roll bar bushes, rear tyres are near limit, slight misfire
which has been the same for 3 years, needs a new idler on the alternator belt, no service history as I've serviced it for last 5years from 30000
miles.
Other: I'll throw in 2 summer tyres for the rear (if I can find them), a tin of paint, and a haynes manual. It's got full tank of fuel at
the moment but I still use it now and again.
It does 37mpg regardless of how you drive it.
£650
Cheers
Davie

I have to admit I don't like that shape of fiesta much, but its the sort of car I'm after if I can't get my current one to last a
little bit longer
so if I can't sort the focus for its MOT (3-4 weeks) you may get a call...
(but if you get a better offer in the mean time I won't mind)
