Megasquirt
Just thought it was worth a try to see if anyone had a megasquirt system for sale before i fork out on a new one.
I almost brought a megajolt system earlier before i realised it doesn't control the fuel injectors (doh!)

I got my Megajolt from Trigger Wheels
I gave them a call to discuss my needs before I bought it, they were very knowledgeable and helpful. Even went through the process and told me I
didn't need the full kit as my engine came with most bits already, so made a bespoke package.
I'd recommend them if no1 else has one for sale and you want to buy new! Only other suggestion is fleabay, and then you're buying without
knowing if it's in working condition.
My 2p's worth!

This is the site.
$139 = £87.26 plus import tax and delivery should hopefully be around £120 (guess)

Trigger-Wheels also supply Megasquirt, but having seen the price you've just got of circa £120, I think the £300 odd they want is possibly a tad
excessive!

I bought my kit off of Bill Shurvington.
He can be contacted via this email address;
bill(at)shurvinton(dot)fsworld(dot)co(dot)uk
He offers a trouble shooting email service and has contacts who have fitted the system to just about every possible engine.

You might want to consider spending the extra on the V3 PCB if you want to use it for igntion. There were numerous
improvements over the 2.2 PCB.

I was looking at the DIY autotune site. I think for the extra I would want a v3 board.

Looking at the improvements they've made the separate ground planes for high and low power make it worth using even if that was the only thing.

I bought MS form DIY autotune last year, fairly well specced, was about £200 with lambda controler and extras, and that £70 import duty. Still cheap
like, but would have been nice to have that in the back pocket.

I can understand that, but the V2.2 has no built in coil drivers and no built in support for low impedance injectors if you need to use them. Just
make sure it meets all your requirements, otherwise it will be a much larger waste of money!

A V2.2 would work ok though it is easy to set up with an Edis to do the ignition if not using the original coil and dizzy and if using low impedance
injectors then a resistor pack from a Volvo or other car fitted with low impedance injectors saves the bother of fiddling with injector duty cycle
settings.
Ive been using a 2.2 for the last 3 years with no problems at all although if building another I would consider a v3 if cost was not important.

I got mine from the USA, £130 (ish) +P&P.
Its a V3 with a Mk1 Processor.
It took me a full day of 8+ hours to build.
I am an experienced constructor, being a practising Radio Ham of 30 years.
So have a have a little experience of weilding a soldering iron.
Its a fair bit of work assembling.
However, its NOT difficult.
The kits even include instructions on how to open the box (usually the instructions are inside the box ).
To be honest, the instructions are very good, and detailed.
All the components are in bags, and are very well labelled.
eg:
Resistor 10K
Qty 3
Brown, Black, orange
R1,5,25
So its almost impossible to get it wrong unless you dont read the instructions or put certain components in the wrong way round. Some capacitors, all
diodes, chips and trasisitors / fets are handed and must go in the board the correct way round or they wont work or will produce odd faults /
conditions or even be damaged. Just take care and double check before soldeing it in.
The hard bit is deciding on exactly what you need, and installing and jumpering it for those options.
The manual covers EVERY option. Hence you need to read through it, decide what you DONT need, then I ran a highlighter across those pages / sections
so I knew to ignore them.
Then it becomes much easier.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Best Regards
Geoff
