Lucas inertia starter? (just to be sure we're talking about the same thing).
Think I've got one still in it's box or could get a second hand one of a starter (if I can find my old clamp to do it).

Just been and checked and all the ones I've got have had the innards used/robbed out of them so just the outer toothed bits left...and
they're all 9 tooth ones. u2u if they're any use to you.

I bought one off fleabay in the end, thanks for the offer though.
When i took the old one off, the internal worm gear had shattered, preventing the bendix from travelling and subsequently engaging properly.
All done now though.
After buying a new battery this morning, i took the car for a blat. All went well.
Surprising what a difference a new battery and alternator rectifier can do. Starts really well too.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.
