Escort mk1 2 door shell/car/parts/WHY

As subject, looking for some rocking horse poo for the Mrs.

It must be a mk1, I've tried convincing her to look at mk2 too but she's not interested.

What have you got?

Chris

what about an estate, they are 3 door and a hell of alot cheaper

and I've been told they are lighter

then you can make a replical of this RS2000 one:

I fancy having a go at an RS1800 estate if I can find the time, money and a decent mk2 shell......

If it were me, then yes. But she's determined she wants a mk1 saloon.

Even been offered a very tidy mk3 Capri for not much cash and pointed out how much it will save her to build one of those instead. But she's still not interested - it *has* to be a mk1 'scort 2 door saloon

So, the search continues!

I assume you've already had a look at ebay but this is on at the moment. Would need shipping over from Ireland though.

What about this

Needless to say NTDWM but just happened to be looking at it yesterday.

Mart.

Must admit, I hadn't seen that one. Been to see a couple of eBay before and they've turned out be a load of crap, so I've tended to avoid looking there.

To be honest, that one might be 'too good'. She wants it as close to concourse as possible but not to such an extent that it can't be used, but still planning a complete strip, acid dip, and bare shell respray.

Was thinking more in the region of £2-3k for something that needs work, but isn't a complete rot box!

Agree on the V6, but don't want to go space frame. Hopefully go Duratec (v6) if I can figure out how to get a RWD gearbox on it. I'm also wondering about copying the de dion Locosts and using the same setup, with coilovers on the back of course.

I don't think £3k is unreasonable tbh. Total budget is a lot more than that, I've just allocated that for the shell and (hopefully!) some bits along with it.

Hi Chris ..If you are looking for a v6 I am breaking a xr4x4 with a v6 lump, or use the gearbox and make a v6 4x4 escort
Denis.

Where did that go?

Looks nice, but a bit too much I think. I'd also prefer an original one rather than 'all work done'. That way I can have it done by someone I trust, rather than wondering whether the person he used knew what he was doing!

As for V6, I want a Duratec, not a Cologne!

Chris, I posted that link just to illustrate the kind of money 2 door mk1's are going for these days...

I think mrs chrisw is going to be waiting a long time....

Most of the panels, if they can be got, are repros, and usually need major fettling too......

Good luck with your search.....but I think Hens Teeth and Rocking Horse Poo (your first post), are the buzz words given the budget......

Fozzie

ps remind me to tell you the story of the mk2 Savage 'tina ......

No use at all but

We once bought a Mk1 1600 Sport shell just for the Mexico style front wings and thought we'd paid a lot at £50

It was in the 80s though.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Will see what comes up, I guess. We're open to spending more if the right car comes up of course, but I'm not going to be ripped off either.

As said, I'd rather buy one that isn't a basket case, needs work, but hasn't been messed with too much. That way I can spend the money having the work done by someone I trust to do it properly - maybe your other half if you're up for it? It always worries me when I see 'all welding done' or something like that on the ads.

Tell me about the tina on MSN
