Wtd: Ford Zetec / Duratec Engine
In need of a 2.0 Zetec or Duratec 2.0+ etc for replacement of the old renault lump. Any condition considered for rebuild into big power engine.
Will be connecting it to a UN1 Gearbox, so transmission not required. Anything petrol considered, what have you got?
Cheers,
Richard.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

You can get a 2.0 Blacktop Zetec with reasonable miles for £150 from a breakers. A change to ARP rod bolts and decent cams will see you knocking on
the door of 200Bhp without changing anything else. If it goes pop then it's £150 again. Most people never open up these engines as it's
not worth it. They were well built and parts were machined to much better tolerance than older lumps.
What will you be doing to rebuild it?

I would only rebuild it if it comes in bits, but if i had the opportunity, then id probably look at ARP Con Rod Bolts, balanced crank and flywheel,
ARP main bolts, H Section con rods, forged pistons, and anything else that i could do to the bottom end to future proof it and protect from my messing
around with it!
Im not saying that im going to spend £££ on it, but if the opportunity were there, then id look at a long term project.
As you say, 2.0 is the way to go, which is preferred but not compulsory.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Out of interest, are there any specific differences between;
Black Top
Silver Top
Red Top
Other than manufacturer?
What are the benefits of each?
Kindest Regards,
Richard.
