Wtd: Intercooler
Hello All
Has anyone got an intercooler kicking around that they don't want ?
It's not for the kit - it's for my Landrover
 
Description
to give it a bit more oomph, when I tweek the fuel pump and turbo.
One like this would be ideal - even better if the inlet and outlet are on the same side.

The std 4x4 Cosworth intercooler is good for around 400BHP it is a lot smaller and cheaper than the one you are looking at, or how about one from a
L/Rover R/Rover they must be cheaper than an RS500 one as you are basically paying for the name with such Gucci items.

It's already got the standard one fitted - 200 Tdi - I just want a bigger one for better performance.

Sorry, I removed my post cos I thought you were after a monster of an intercooler! This is a small-ish thing, about 450mm square or thereabouts. I
can get exact dimensions if you're interested.

Yes, I'm definately after a larger than standard one.
It doesn't have to be massive - but size does matter or so I'm told.
I think yours might be a bit small, could I have the dimensions anyway please, including thickness.

I'm a typical bloke, always overestimating the size. It's nowhere near 450mm square. It's only 250x180x65.
Good for 200BHP, apparently. More than that and the VW tuning boys go for a larger FMIC, usually from a Merc Sprinter.

I have one of those rs500 coolers £75 plus p and p done a handful of miles and looks brand new

Based on my experiences with that Horrid V8 'thing' it's incapable of keeping headgaskets intact...without a turbo.

I've got a big Volvo intercooler that I was saving for a boost hike on my daily driver, but realistically it's one of those projects that
I'm never going to get round to!
It's pretty sizable (approx 570mm wide x 560mm high), and is in good condition with all fins intact and mostly unbent.
Oops, should have rotated the photo....

and a diesel van one. I've been thinking about fleabaying them. Lets see if I can find pics online:
Can't find the van one.
Looking for buttons really, want to clear the garage and converted the 185 to water-to-air

I have a std 2/300 Tdi one if you want.
I changed it for one from Allisport and it made a big difference.
More power, more torque, and no change in fuel consumption.
Made towing the caravan a pleasure.
Trouble is they aint cheap for the uprated one.
I would not put on the modified std one, as then only make a small difference. However they are covert and not easily noticed by an insurance
investigator in the event of an accident. Not unless they are very cheap!
Certainly inform your insurance company of this sort of mod. Shouldnt make a lot of difference to the premium.
