Potentially a new motor on the horizon
Evening all,
im potentially in the market for a new tintop. MUST be diesel as i commute circa 25,000 miles a year & ideally in a cheap insurance group (i
currently have 4 years no claims). my dad's motor is virtually at the gates of the big scrap yard in the sky and he has said that he would have
my current car to last him the rest of his life.
budget is 5K to 8K. there's only me so something focus, Astra, Golf size is fine
ATB
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

I have had two golf TDI's over the past couple of years, one with the mechanical injection 110hp engine and my newer one with the PD injection
150hp engine.
The 110 would get me on average 55mpg however I drove it, and I am pretty heavy footed. The 150 isn't as good in fuel averaging around
45-48mpg.
The PD engines respond very well to remaps and get better economy also, the 6 speed gearbox in the 150 and 130 models is a nice thing to have also.
Just my thoughts and experience.
