Pinto engine

I have 2.0 pinto removed from a MK2 RS2000 apparently put together by Blackpool race and rally it comes with a RS sump that has a plate welded to the bottom and ally engine mounts, lightened flywheel and clutch, electronic dizzy, twin 40 webers, fuel regulator, burton cam cover. Its got a few bits missing, alternator bracket and dipstick. I am asking £500 it and the location is in cleveleys in Lancashire.

As far as I know it has standard internals, the camshaft is a high lift one but the engine builder ground the identification off the cam?? It also has a vernier pulley.

Its worth putting a bit more about the engine such as bhp figures and build information. As you know the identity of the original engine builder it would be worth asking them to look up the spec as they are likely to have a record of the engine number.

As you will have gathered from looking at older posts on here, pinto engines tend to fall into 3 distinct price categories.

1. Recently rebuilt performance engines. Go for good money but spec and history is absolutely key.

2. Engines suitable for rebuild

3. standard engines in running order

The only real money is in the first category.

As it stands the cam cover, ally sump and 40's are worth the money
The fact that its running 40's means the bhp ain't much over a standard RS2000 or it would need 45's

You are probably correct, I will strip the engine and sell the parts seperately.
