1991 Mini Cooper for sale, fully restored

See listing on ebay: Ebay linky

The car has been totally rebuilt with complete new front end, including lead loading the wing to scuttle joins to prevent cracking and corrosion.

Its one of the last carburettored ones with "stage 2 kit", plus lightly ported head.

cheers

Nat

......the rot on these minis has to be seen to be believed!!! They seem to get worse the later they were, I have recently been to look at a lot of '93-'95 ones which "just have a bit of bubbling round the headlamps" which need a complete front end like this one has had.

They go in a manner which appears cosmetic but is actually really bad!!!

tbh I'm now very glad I didn't. I have had to weld up the floor of one when a friends seat fell though it due to rust. They don't seem to have much in the way of spare metal to lose before they become dangerous

You lie - that have an A series engine up front. Active rust proofing every time you start the engine

I think our existing combined fleet (6 cars) is probably enough don't you think?

LOL, what is it about "proper" mechanics that upsets them so much about Mini's?

My mate will work on Hummers, tractors, Deloreans, articulated lorries, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Lambos, Audis (feck me! modern Audis are really shite to work on...) basically anything you throw at him but he completely loses his rag when I ask for a bit of help on the Minis.

He's got no sense of humour at all about them

Name another car you can change the clutch in situ in about two hours or do a complete cylinder head in 45 minutes?

Simple as all get out, tons of room to work and parts as cheap as chips. I imagine the injected ones get to be a bit of a pain (we never got them in Canada) but I'd take a Mini over any piece of crap interference fit emissioned to the hilt hosed up interference fit modern heap of sharp edged sheetmetal cuts on the back of your knuckles piece of modern fool injected burned up computer hexed evil nasty modern pile anyday

depends - do you have arms with 4 double joints - if so mini's are cool.

Otherwise they're a bloody arse when it comes to the clutch change. Although have helped my dad do 3 in a 24 hour period.

(don't ask, lets just say we learnt the VERY hard way to lay old and new out separately).

OK, TBH, a clutch change is easiest in a Clubby, but I've done my van in the car as well with the non removable grille and it was still pretty easy compared to trying to wrestle the transmission out of and back into a modern car.

Different strokes I guess -- Mini's are fairly distinctive from other cars (gears in sump, rubber or hydro suspension, lots of grease points to maintain) but other than a few of the stupid things they did to modernize them (he who devised the rubber mounted front subframe ought to be shot and wee'd upon) they're pretty robust simple and servicable.

I am lusting after that carby Cooper of NS Dev's 1991 is old enough for legal import into Canada and the price is good as well.

Cheers, Ted

We're hopefully, maybe, possibly, if its still there, getting a clubman estate soon, will keep you posted, but it'll be a good one, rest assured!!!
